ISO/TS 37008

Since 2023 the International Standard ISO/TS 37008 exists.

Thanks in part to the influence of BuDEG members and DIN SPEC 33452, an international guideline for internal investigations was developed for the first time.

ISO/TS 37008:2023 is a technical standard developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to provide guidelines and recommendations for internal investigations in organisations. This ISO is a document on compliance issues and provides standards for internal investigations.

Seminars on the topic of ‘Interviewing – Criminalistic possibilities for finding the truth – Cognitive interviewing – a conventional method’

Since 2020, Lothar Müller has been organising seminars on the topic of ‘Interviewing – Criminalistic possibilities for finding the truth – Cognitive interviewing – a conventional method’.

The seminars focus on

  • the detection and investigation of company-related rule violations,
  • the installation and enforcement of security mechanisms in companies,
  • interviewing as a method of gathering information in the context of investigative activities.

New: Bundesverband des Detektiv- und Ermittlungsgewerbes e. V. (BuDEG)

The merger of the professional associations Bund Internationaler Detektive (BID) and Bundesverband Deutscher Detektive (BDD) took place on 23 February 2019 in Berlin.

Since then, the new professional association has been called Bundesverband des Detektiv- und Ermittlungsgewerbes e. V. (BuDEG).

Lothar Müller elected for 1st Vice President fo BID

The annual general meeting of the BID takes place in Prague. An important decision: the members decide to found a joint federal association with the Federal Association of German Detectives, BDD. Furthermore, a new presidium is elected. Lothar Müller is elected for 1st Vice President.

Co-author for DIN standard

Bund Internationaler Detektive, BID, individual members of the federation and other developed and published with the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) the DIN SPEC 33452 (dinspec33452.de).

For the first time, service standards for private investigative services in Germany are developed and can be certified according to this standard.

iD-intertrace is co-author of this standard.

IKD certificate for BID

Der Bund Internationaler Detektive, BID (Germany) acquires the Certificate of the International Federation of Associations of Private Detectives (Internationale Kommission der Detektiv-Verbände), IKD, for its training concept. This required documentation of previous training events / workshops, planning for the next few years and a practical audit.

The benchmark for the certificate is the “Common Minimum Standards” and “Common Standards of Competence” as well as further documents of the IKD.

Lothar Mueller was invited to conduct a one-day-seminar at the Police Academy of Vietnam, Ha Noi.

Lothar spoke to 80 Master students of the Police Academy, who got a special training on investigation in the area of economy crime in Vietnam. His focused on detection and investigation of corruption offenses. After the seminar, he was invited to a meeting with the Lieutenant General, Professor Nguyen Huy Thuat and Deputy Director of Police Academy of Vietnam. Further participants were Colonel Dr Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of Institute for Strategy of Ministry for Public Security and Colonel Dr Tran Ngoc Phuong, Deputy Head of Institute for Criminology.

Guest lecture at “P.I. International Summer School” in Sinaia/Romania

Lothar Mueller was a guest lecture at the 4-day “P.I. International Summer School” in Sinaia/Romania. Subject of its 10th Edition was “Fraud”. Topic of its seminar “Red Flags on Fraud” with a Case Study. The „Summer School“ is open for Private Investigators throughout Europe and beyond. The Romanian Professional Association held the annual training event annually. Lothar Mueller was elected by secret ballot during this event as “Honorary Dean” of the Summer School.
